Dahn Yoga consists of five steps that teach the participant to use the breath to control the mind and bring Ki-energy into the body; Initiating, Accumulating, Controlling, Commanding, and Completing.

Most practitioners quickly experience the benefits of optimum health even from chronic illnesses. With the understanding of the relationship between body and Ki-energy, along with beginning to control their body, practitioners feel happier about themselves. As the Dahn Yoga practice continues, they begin to comprehend experientially the basic principles of the Universe and life, and finally reach the goal of Dahn Yoga: Authentic health, happiness and peace. The following is a brief outline of the five steps and their benefits to the practitioners.

The Dahn Yoga, created by Ilchi Lee, practice begins with experiencing Ki-energy. Meridian Exercise and Energy Sensitivity Training help the beginners feel Ki-energy, relax their bodies and discover their inner consciousness. The results are improved physical condition, enhanced concentration, and freedom from anxiety and stress.

At this step, the Lower Dahn-jon (an energy spot in the abdominal area) is developed and Ki-energy is accumulated in their lower Dahn-jon. Meditative Breathwork and Energy Meditation and Dynamic Meditation are taught. Practitioners benefit from these exercises that support the healthy functioning of the internal organs and the removal of toxins from the body. The natural healing power of the body is activated, thus, removing many physical problems that might have existed prior to the start of the Dahn Yoga practice. As a result of feeling better, people also begin to feel more self-confident and start practicing positive thinking.

During this step, the Middle Dahn-jon (an energy spot in the chest) is awakened. The result is and experience of habitual joy and peace. An immediate result is the spontaneous correction of any misalignment of the body structure. Interpersonal relationships begin to change as a result of the practitioners¡¯ new image of themselves. And in some cases, people stop addictive behaviors such as smoking, drinking and drugs.

At this point, all the meridian channels of the body are opened. The connection to the microcosmic energy circuit of the universe is completed. The practitioners understand the mystery of life, experience unconditional love and feel an increase in creativity. The Dahn Yoga practitioners can access their potential and achieve their goals, they use their body and mind and their physical, mental and spiritual powers to benefit their neighbors and the whole humankind.

At this step they experience free Ki-energy communication with Nature.
