Q:What is the most essential action to begin with if you have had low energy chronically and want to make what you do have the best return for your output? I work full time as a county, mental health therapist; therefore, during the week I have little time to devote to a practice.

The best thing to do for low energy is, probably, Dahn Jon breathing. This is something that you can do throughout the day. Every time you think about it, you should start to do the breathing. It would also be very helpful at your work place. When you focus on your breathing you bring the energy down. This helps to energize and center you.

The lower energy center in the body, Dahn Jon(an energy spot in your abdomen area), is a place of no emotions. What happens outside of you, just is, the lower energy center does not judge it. So when you work in a field such as yours it can help you stay out of the emotions of it all. Emotions exhaust your energy. Remember that breath is life, and where your mind goes the energy follows.

After this I would recommend intestine exercises before bed. Also a short exercise routine every day helps to energize us. When I was working in the emergency room doing 24-hour shifts, I found that I was much better if I exercised. Instead of it depleting my energy, it gave me energy. Find a routine that you can do and stick to.

If you are a member of a Dahn Center, ask your chief instructor for something to do at home, in the morning or at night, and put it into your routine every day. It will be hard at first, but with time you will feel more energized. Of course, all the other benefits will come as well, less stress, better health, etc. It is proven that exercise increases our red and white blood cell count and keeps us healthier.
